Sequence and DistinctHorizon Merge to Offer Web Semantic Portals

Montreal, Quebec - June 1, 2005 - Sequence, a software company specializing in the creation of knowledge portals, and DistinctHorizon, creator of the document management software MxDoc, are joining forces to develop Web Semantic portals for the SME market. The new company will operate under the name Sequence Technologies and will build on both companies' extensive expertise in knowledge and document management to offer enterprise-class semantic web portals.

This new technology allows structuring and sharing corporate information in a simpler and more adaptive way than conventional systems.

Laurent Feral-Pierssens, Sequence Technologies executive vice-president, explains: "The Semantic Web is a revolutionary concept, developed by Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of the Web. It is the next generation of Web architecture. Emerging technologies based on this architecture offer a new range of capabilities for organizing, interlinking and accessing the enterprise knowledge base."

By using a Semantic Web Portal a company can rapidly define an information structure to reflect, for example, its sales, marketing and production activities. Once the structure is defined, the portal will automatically provide the tools for creating, sharing and storing the information through an easy to use web interface. Thereafter, the structure can be changed at any time to adapt to the company's evolving needs.

Shibl Mourad, president of Sequence Technologies, adds: "We're very excited about this merger. The combined expertise of both companies will allow us to concentrate our activities and efforts on developing Semantic Web solutions. Even though the applications of this new technology are still in their infancy, by combining Sequence's Semantic Web platform to the mature and powerful feature set offered by MxDoc, we will soon be able to bring to market a simple and flexible enterprise-class Semantic Web portal."
